The choir of S. S. Prokofiev State Music Academy was set in 1968. It consists of the students of specialization “choral conducting” and the graduates of the Academy. Professors P. Gorohov, V. Baharev stood at the conductor’s stand at different years. Since 2000 the choir has been headed by Alime Murzayeva, a laureate of All-Ukrainian contest of choral conductors, an associate professor of choral conducting department.

The choir of the Academy is not only a concert group but a creative laboratory for young choirmaster as well.

The repertoire of the choir includes the works of the composers of many national schools. Young singers perform music of various choral styles and trends with a great pleasure. These are large-scale works of J. Bach, W. Mozart, L. Beethoven, F. Schubert, C. Orff, F. Poulenc, the miniatures of K. Stetsenko, M. Leontovich, S. Rahmaninoff, D. Bortniansky, P. Chesnokov, M. Berezovsky, G. Sviridov, A. Schnittke, A. Grechaninov, J. Brahms, V. Lysenko, and the arrangements of folk songs as well. By performing concerts the chamber choir actively popularizes modern Ukrainian music of such composers as L. Dychko, V. Stepurko, V. Stetsenko, A. Skrypnik, A. Rudyansky, Y. Petrichenko, P. Kachakov, D. Milka, A. Nekrasov, M. Skorik, Y. Chystaya,V. Zubitsky, Y. Stankovich.

Сhoir participates in graduation theatrical performances, which are carried out by students - graduates of the Academy, namely – W. A. Mozart "The Magic Flute" (2011), Gounod "Faust" (2013), A. Rudyansky "Taras Way "(2014).

The choir of the Academy does an active work, performing at different stages of Kiev, Donetsk, Zaporozhye, Lugansk, Dnepropetrovsk, Mariupol, Poltava, and Chernigov.

Five International Bach academies were held at the base of S. Prokofiev State Music Academy from 2004 to 2014, where the artists of the choir had an opportunity to learn from German professors. Successful performance (according to the opinion of the press and music critics) of “St. John Passion” (2004), cantatas № 21, 140 (2006), №117, №179 (2010 ), № 10, 147 (2013 ), mass G-dur BWV 239 (2010 ), «Magnifikat» BWV 248 (2013), and Bach’s Christmas oratorio BWV 248 (2011) and motet “Ich hatte viel bekumernis” by Brahms in the concert halls of Lugansk, Mariupol, Artyomovsk and Donetsk has become the result of such rather complex collaboration.
